Aug. 5 – Know Your Cost to Grow

Then the Know Your Cost to Grow Program may be the right fit for you!

With the Know Your Cost to Grow Program, you can learn how to maximize the valuable real estate on your farm and make data-driven production and marketing decisions that will help your farm thrive. Pioneered by researchers at Oregon State University and Oregon Tilth, the KYCTG Program consists of six virtual learning sessions with KYCTG trainer and CFSA staff member, Jay Dunbar, who will introduce you to the process of crop-specific costing. Along with the instruction, participants will gain access to the Know Your Cost To Grow web app, where they will learn how to build a crop-costing workbook for their farm. Participants will learn how to quantify crop-specific production costs and perform time studies to collect labor costs. They will also learn how to feed this data into the app, so the app can do the math!

• The program was developed for farmers who grow a mix of annual vegetables. It is not recommended for farmers who produce perennials or tree crops.
• Candidates should have been producing crops for at least 3-5 seasons.
• Farmers will need access to a computer with internet to participate.
• Ideally, farmers will have some experience with farm recordkeeping and have access to records of farm expenses such as equipment and supplies.
